BIN database coverage and methodology

This page measures the current BINtools database instead of making a generic “largest database” claim. Every percentage below is calculated from the same 375,518 distinct six-digit BIN records used by the lookup service.

Snapshot generated 2026-07-28 · aggregate counts only

How the quality gate works

The public database is larger than the set of pages submitted for indexing.

1

Store the factual record

A six-digit BIN can remain available to the lookup even when optional metadata is missing.

2

Measure completeness

Issuer, country, payment network and card type form the core quality threshold. Card level raises a record to fully complete.

3

Publish selectively

The current search wave contains 5,000 fully complete priority BIN pages, plus curated country, issuer, network and type hubs.

Publication rules

Included in the search wave

  • Valid six-digit BIN format
  • Issuer, country, network, card type and level present
  • Issuer has enough complete records for a useful collection
  • Self-referencing canonical and stable server-rendered HTML

Kept out of the search wave

  • Unknown or placeholder core fields
  • Thin combinations without supporting aggregates
  • Technical issuer labels that do not represent a useful organization page
  • Duplicate URL variants and non-canonical routes
Important limitation. BIN metadata supports routing, formatting, analytics and preliminary risk checks. It cannot prove card ownership, account status, available balance, authorization outcome or a cardholder’s current location. Issuers can reassign ranges, so production payment decisions must be verified with the issuer or processor.

Current published collections

224 country codes, 18,902 issuer labels and 73 network labels occur in the source database. Only quality-filtered collections are exposed as indexable hubs.
